Hola and welcome to our first newsletter!
Firstly we’d just like to welcome all of our new friends and followers from the Leeds Flamenco Festival 2018. We are immensely proud that all of our hard work paid off and the Community Day ran smoothly. Trinity Arts and their team are just fantastic and we are really sad to see them close their doors. Also a big thank you to all of our wonderful community performers. We have received some brilliant feedback and the line up was memorable from start to finish.
Juan Martin and his ensemble as ever put on a spectacular show and we hope to facilitate his continued presence in Leeds and his support for the festival. Next year will see alternative venues and a possible alternative format but we will keep the spirit and ethos of the festival as much as possible.
Now to our up and coming exciting events! We have a few things in the pipeline which we will announce once all details are finalised, but we are thrilled to be able to announce the return of Natalia Garcia-Huidobro on the 7th July!!
We have a concert at Seven Arts in Chapel Allerton with Natalia, guitarist Ramon Ruiz, and singer Julio Lopez at 8pm, with a pre-show workshop starting at 6:30pm. This workshop is presented by Natalia, and is suitable for complete beginners as well as enthusiasts alike. Tickets are available through Seven Arts and can be purchased through this link.
During the day we are also hosting workshops at Meanwood Community Centre. Natalia will be teaching a dance workshop from 12:00 – 14:00, this is aimed at intermediate/advanced level and the palos will be Cana. This workshop is £35 but we are offering an earlybird discount price of £30 if booked before 20th June 2018.
There is also a Cante (singing) workshop with Julio Lopez from 14:30 – 16:00 which is £20 or £15 under the earlybird offer.
Please email us if you are interested in the workshops and we will happily book you a space.
We really hope to see you at one of our events or workshops in the future, and look forward to bringing exciting Flamenco to you here in Leeds.
Until next time,
Vanessa and Emily
